4 Ways To Keep Your Hair Colour From Fading
Ever dyed your hair a bright colour and have it fade within a few washes? Here are several steps you can take before and after the dyeing process to make your hair colour last longer.

Before Dyeing
1. Deep condition your hair several days before dyeing it.

Deep conditioning repairs damaged hair and hydrates it, which helps the colour cling to your hair and protects it from drying out during the colouring process. However, do not pre-condition your hair too soon before dyeing it as the residue from the conditioner can act as a barrier between the hair and dye.
After Dyeing
2. Use a shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair.
Check the shelves for colour enhancing products and products that increase the longevity of colour treated hair. Avoid using shampoos or conditioners with silicone or sulphate in it as it tends to strip the colour from your hair faster than shampoos for colour treated hair.
3. Protect your hair from heat.
Apply hair serums or hairsprays with UV protecting agents before you step outside in the sun. Also apply heat protectant onto your hair when blow-drying and using curling or flat-irons. Sunlight and heat dries out your hair and causes the colour to fade quicker.
4. Wash colour treated hair in cool water
Washing your hair with hot water causes the hair shaft to open and the colour molecules to escape. Cold water does not open up our hair shaft as much as hot water, and reduces the amount of colour lost during washing and rinsing your hair.
